How to Use BSCI in Your Decision
Use BSCI as a social compliance check, not as a proxy for quality or reliability. The social compliance part matters for your brand reputation and for meeting the requirements of certain retailers, but it will not tell you whether the factory can execute your tech pack or meet your delivery dates. We would suggest asking the factory for the full audit report, not just the certificate, and then asking for a production sample and a reference from a current client in a similar product category. If you want to know whether a factory is a good fit for your brand, the sample and the reference will tell you more than the audit will.
Why We Maintain BSCI Certification
We maintain BSCI certification because some of our clients require it for their own compliance programs, and because it gives us a structured framework for monitoring our own social compliance practices. It is not a marketing tool for us, and we would rather you evaluate us on the quality of our samples and the reliability of our deliveries. If you are comparing factories, ask for the audit report, the production sample, and the reference. Those three documents together will give you a much clearer picture than any certificate alone.

If the pack is not written yet, sketches and a reference sample are enough to start — sample development covers the design review, fabric and trim sourcing, pattern making and the first prototype, so you see fit and construction before you commit to a production run.
